Before you submit your tax return there are a few things you should check. 1. Go through the list you made earlier and make sure you have received all the documents you were expecting. You don't want to submit your return and then realise you have forgotten to include some important figure! 2. Make sure all of your figures for all your categories are up to date with the latest receipts and documents. 3. Make sure you have up-to-date bank account information on hand, so that your refund can be deposited directly into your bank account, usually within 14 days of receipt of your tax documentation. 4. Make sure you have your medicare number, private health fund details and Centrelink (Social Security) details handy. 5. Have your tax file number ready. If you are submitting your documentation online via e-tax, then you will also need to have a Notice of Assessment from a previous financial year on hand, to verify your ID. If you are prepared, tax time doesn't have to be a headache. |
